Griffith is committed to providing an inclusive environment for all, including those of diverse genders, bodies and sexualities (DGBS/LGBTQIA+) by educating staff on important issues related to these communities.
Program overview
LGBTQIA+ Inclusion Workshop
This workshop covers:
- why the inclusion of a diversity of genders, bodies and sexualities is important,
- the differences between sex, gender and sexuality,
- the experiences of LGBTQIA+ people,
- supporting LGBTQIA+ people in the workplace and classroom, and
- LGBTQIA+ inclusion at Griffith
This workshop is hosted online and co-facilitated by Pride in Diversity and a member from the Griffith Pride Committee.
Suitable for
This workshop is open to staff (at all levels) and students and meets the training requirements to become a Griffith LGBTQIA+ Ally.

How to Enrol
Staff and students can register to attend one of the above workshops by completing the following form. Participants will receive an enrolment confirmation calendar containing all the logistics of the session including the teams join link. Once enrolments reach capacity, you will be added to a waitlist.

New Online Courses
In addition to the workshops, we now offer two new online self-paced training courses. These courses provide timely access to essential knowledge on the role of an Ally, key concepts, and common terminology. Enrol using the links below:
Intersex Foundations 101
Participants will be equipped with a solid knowledge base, empowering you to contribute meaningfully to intersex inclusion, advocacy, and education. Backed with practical knowledge about available support for people with IVSC and explore concrete steps individuals and organisations to be effective allies.

Build a foundational understanding of intersex diversity, rights, and inclusion in this essential course with a comprehensive introduction to sex characteristics and variations, intersex demographics, and the lived experiences of people with innate variations of sex characteristics (IVSC).
Explore key concepts such as bodily autonomy, difference, and respect, alongside a deep dive into intersex representation within the LGBTQIA+ acronym—examining both shared struggles and unique perspectives. Through interactive discussions, compare sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, and intersex, understanding how language shapes narratives and why words matter.
The course also provides critical insight into human rights issues facing intersex communities, including calls for reform outlined in the Darlington Statement.
