Superannuation information for Griffith staff
UniSuper is Griffith University’s partnered Super fund for employees. They’re Australia’s dedicated Super fund for people working in the Higher Education and Research sector.

Contribution rates
For contracts commencing on or after 1 November 2021.

Existing UniSuper Members
If you are an existing UniSuper Defined Benefit Division (DBD) member you may not be eligible to choose which Super fund contributions are made to and we may be required to pay super contributions to UniSuper. Email hrandsafety@griffith.edu.au to find out if you are eligible.

Choice of fund
The University offers Choice of Fund to eligible members covered by the Professional and Support Staff Enterprise Agreement and the Academic Staff Enterprise Agreement.
Existing members of the UniSuper Defined Benefit Plan or the QSuper Defined Benefit Plan are also exempt from Choice of Fund.
If you wish to elect a super fund other than UniSuper, please complete the Superannuation (Super) Standard Choice Form. Under Choice of Fund legislation, the University is required to remit the Super Guarantee (SG) component (10%) to the elected choice of fund and the balance of the contributions will be paid to UniSuper.
Griffith's contributions to your super
The level of superannuation Griffith pays into your super fund depends on your employment contract.
For example, Griffith pays a 10% contribution rate into super funds for casual staff, sessionals, and employees on fixed-term contracts for less than one year. Staff employed for two years or more will receive a total contribution rate of 17%.
