About the service

The Guest Account Registration Service provides Guest Account Creators the ability to create an IT account on the fly for a visitor to the University, the Guest account allows access to these services:

  • Computing access - Login to staff computers
  • Internet access (including Griffith's Wi-Fi Service)

Guest access accounts are only available to individuals who are visiting the University on official business for ten working days or less.

The Griffith Guest Registration Service supports three types of users:

  1. Guest users – Use the system to activate and change passwords on their accounts.
  2. Guest account creators – Use the system to create Guest accounts.
  3. Administrators – Provide access for Guest account creators and support the system.

In order to create Guest accounts you will first need to become a Guest account creator. You can find more information and guides about setting up and using the various accounts in the sections below. Please also makes sure to read the guidelines, and terms and conditions before you set up accounts for the first time.

Guest users

As a registered user with a Guest account, a limited number of Griffith University resources are available to you at no cost.

Registered Guest accounts allow onsite visitors access to University resources for a maximum of 14 days (or 10 business days). If you require access for 14 days or more, then please follow the Visitors process which is outline on the Enterprise information systems support page.

A Guest account can be created for you by School Admin Officers, Program Support Officers, School Secretaries and Department Secretaries, when you provide your name and a valid external email address .

Request a guest account to be created for a guest, on your behalf. Please allow additional time for this to be actioned.

Guest account creators

Staff within the IT Service Centre, School Admin Officers (SAOs), Program Support Officers (PSOs) and School/Departmental Secretaries are eligible to apply for access as a Guest Account Creator. To apply, complete the Guest Creator Registration form, referring to the dropdown sections below for further information.

Note: Griffith staff who request the creation of guest accounts will be deemed owners of accounts they create and will be responsible for ensuring that the accounts are created and used in accordance with Griffith University Policy.

Guest accounts are subject to strict regulations to ensure that usage adheres to Griffith Information Technology Security and auditing policies. Accounts will be permanently deactivated at the effective end date and will not be extended.
