The Student Experience Survey (SES) provides Griffith students with the opportunity to talk about their university experience. Participation in this annual survey enables both Australian Higher Education institutions and the government to gain insights into students’ experiences, specifically:

  • To monitor and improve learning and teaching in Australia
  • To assist with changes and improvements that will benefit students and assist universities strategic planning.

The SES feeds into the Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) which allows students to compare student experiences across Australian higher education institutions. The Social Research Centre (SRC) carry out the SES on behalf the Department of Education and Training for all participating Australian higher education institutions during August each year. Only onshore undergraduate students in their first and later years of study are invited at random to participate in this survey.

The 2020 survey

In 2020, the SES is open from Thursday , 30 July to Sunday, 30 August 2020. A selection of undergraduate (first and last year) students and postgraduate students have been selected to participate in this year's survey. Those selected will receive an email invitation with a link to the online questionnaire in August. By participating in the survey, students will have the chance to enter the weekly prize draw to win a share of $8,000 in prepaid VISA gift cards. Find out more about the prize

There is also a lecture slide which you can use to encourage your students to participate in the Student Experience Surevey (SES). The SES is important, because it provides a clear picture of what life is like at university. It isn't a review of individual subjects, but instead an overarching look at the university experience in Australia.
