Where do events come from?

Event content comes from external data sources brought in to myGriffith via content feeds (RSS Data Source assets). The events from these feeds are then grouped by their categories and finally styled and displayed on relevant pages in myGriffith.

Below is a list of some of the external feeds:

• JSON — What's on Google v3
• JSON — Research Google v3

Please note: There have been cases where input was not sanitised in the external data source — special characters were included in the feed and caused problems with the RSS Data Source assets, which meant any further entries would not display. Please ensure that the input is free from these characters.

The Events Calendar

Griffith staff can submit events to the Events Calendar for approval.

At the link above you can find options (top right corner) to log in and submit events.

Event visibility

For Events Calendar events to appear in myGriffith 'Event Visibility' must be set to 'Student portal (myGriffith)'.

Setting 'Event visibility' to 'Student portal (myGriffith)' will also prevent the event from appearing in any of the many other location outside of myGriffith where Events Calendar events are shown.

Basic details / type of event

For events to appear in myGriffith they need to be listed as the right kind of event in the 'Basic details' section.

Events put into the Events Calendar with "Student life", "Campus life" or "Griffith Mates" selected as the event type automatically go into a 'Students' feed which is displayed on the 'Student life' page.

Events put into the Events Calendar with "Support, health and wellness" selected as the event type automatically go into a 'Support' feed which is displayed on the 'Personal support' page.
