If you are new to Griffith, or starting a new program, Griffith Mentors have all the tips to help you get off to a great start. Join your Team to connect with a mentor and to meet your peers.
Be on Academic Track (BOAT)
If you feel like you are falling behind and unsure how to be on track, talk with a Griffith Mentor who’s been there and knows what it’s like to deal with set-backs while studying.
Study Support
If you have an assignment you would like advice on, or are looking for study skills tips, chat one-on-one with a Griffith Mentor who knows how to succeed at university.
Outreach
Connect with a Griffith Mentor at various times during the trimester to have a quick chat about your studies and to see if we can provide any support specific to your needs.
Orientation Week Leaders (OWLs)
Volunteer OWLs are an important part of Griffith's Mentor Team. They provide an amazing service during O-Week and make sure that commencing students have a great introduction to Griffith.
Griffith Mates
Griffith Mates is a group of current students from across the world. Connecting with Griffith Mates is a great way to practise your English, make new friends and find your way around campus.
Architecture, Industrial Design and Planning Team
This program connects commencing students with a mentor who is an experienced student, who can provide practical guidance and understanding.
Bachelor of Midwifery Peer Mentoring Program
This Logan-based program comprises a group of dedicated second and third-year midwifery students who volunteer their time and support for commencing students as they transition into their studies.
Dentistry and Oral Health First-Year Support Team
Based at Gold Coast, the First-Year Support Team facilitates orientation and transition for new dentistry and dental technology students. This program matches mentors from senior years to small groups of up to 10 first-year students (mentees).
Education and Professional Studies Mentoring
This program supports first-year Bachelor of Education students in their transition to university.
Griffith Aviation's MATES
Griffith Aviation's MATES is open to all Brisbane South (Nathan) undergraduate aviation students and provides professional development and peer mentoring opportunities.
Griffith Business School Leadership Program
This two-year program offers selected GBS students from Brisbane South (Nathan) and Gold Coast exclusive leadership development activities, peer mentoring, community volunteering opportunities.
Griffith Engineering Peer Mentoring Program
Our engineering peer mentors are highly motivated and successful senior students who want to share their tips and experiences to help new engineering and industrial design students settle in.
Griffith Industry Mentoring Program
This program connects Griffith students with experienced industry professionals.
Griffith International Buddy Program
This program connects commencing international students with current students to assist with settling in.
Law Students' Association Mentoring Program
This program gives first-year Griffith law students on the Gold Coast the chance to gain insider tips on navigating law school from a more experienced student.
Griffith University Law Society Mentoring Program
This program provides first-year law students at Brisbane South (Nathan) support and friendship throughout a nerve-wracking initial year at university.
Golden Key International Student Mentoring Program
This program connects first-year international students with Golden Key members for academic support.
Government and International Relations Program
This mentoring study program links first-year government and international relations students with a peer mentor in their second year or above, to help guide them through commencing university.
Peer-Assisted Study Sessions
PASS are free peer-group study sessions surrounding courses that first-year students have typically found difficult. Group leaders facilitate the sessions, allowing the group to break down complex ideas and course content together.
Public Health and Paramedicine Peer Mentoring
This program connects commencing students with mentors from second or third years of the Bachelor of Public Health and the Bachelor of Paramedicine program.
Environment and Science Mentoring and Leadership
This is a tailored mentoring program for first-year Griffith School of Environment and Science students to assist in the transition to university studies.
Medical Science Student Mentoring Program
This Gold Coast-based program helps new medical science students become familiar with university life and move towards achieving academic success.
School of Nursing and Midwifery Mentoring Program
Based at Gold Coast, Brisbane South (Nathan) and Logan, this program sees second and third-year nursing students link with commencing students to help them become familiar with their campus and courses.
Pharmacy and Pharmacology Peer Mentoring
This Gold Coast-based program connects commencing students with senior student mentors in the same program to offer support in the first trimester of study.
