Many phone faults (desk and mobile) can be resolved without having a technician involved by simply rebooting or restarting.
A reboot can be achieved either by unplugging your hardware or powering it off for a short time and then restarting.
How to fix a video phone fault
To fix faults with video phones, simply unplug your phone cable from the network port, wait 20 seconds and then reconnect. This can help resolve the following faults:
- Handset not registering correctly
- Frozen, dark or time out screen
- No dial tone
- Keys jammed and unable to use key pad
Mobile phone faults
We are unable to fix faulty phones onsite, so please take your phone to a qualified repair centre. You will need proof of purchase which you can request via our log a phone fault form.
It is up to your own department / school whether the University will reimburse you for any costs associated with the repair (such as a cracked screen).
For Apple service requests and troubleshooting, please contact the Apple Genius Bar directly to arrange a call from Apple support or to take your device to an Apple authorised service provider.
Need further help? Log a phone fault
If you are unable to fix your phone fault by rebooting or restarting, please log a phone fault.
Upon submission of your request, a Service Desk job will be automatically logged to a phone technician. You will receive an email sent from "Service Desk" with confirmation of your request and a reference number.
