Complete your compulsory health and safety requirements
Health and safety is a shared responsibility at Griffith. We do everything we can to keep you safe, but also expect you to comply with all University policies and procedures, follow safety instructions and complete the following tasks below before coming to class.
Please screenshot your certificate at the end of each quiz below, and bring them along to your first class so you can get started in the labs. This is a mandatory requirement, so we’re unable to let you start until we’ve received your certificate.
Laboratory and workshop safety
This module provides you with an understanding of the hazards, risks and risk controls within the laboratory environment. At the end of this module, you should:
- Understand your Health and Safety responsibilities;
- Have the ability to identify hazards in the laboratory environment;
- Have an awareness of H&S issues when conducting workplace inspections;
- Understand the various procedures and resources available to control H&S risks; and
- Understand how and who to contact for assistance.
Health and safety induction
This module aims to inform you of your obligations under Queensland laws and Griffith University policies. We will review:
- Work Health and Safety Legislation - how you, your supervisor and the University must comply with legislation and meet due diligence;
- Health and Safety structure, consultation, hazard and incident reporting;
- Fit for work;
- and the Risk Management process.

This quiz aims to inform you of your obligations under Queensland laws and Griffith University policies.
Emergency Response and Evacuation
This training outlines the emergency response procedures and responsibilities to enable people to act safely in an emergency situation.

After you click the "Take the quiz" button, you will be directed to the Workplace Health & Safety organisation site page on Learning@Griffith.
Each organisation site has its own membership enrolment requirements. When you are ready, click on the "+ Enrol" button on the left-hand menu of the The Workplace Health & Safety site. You can now find the course content and quiz.
