The University is committed to supporting academic staff during their probation and supporting their career ambitions, and their contribution to the University’s strategic goals. In line with the recently published Academic Staff Career Development Framework, Procedure and Plan, the current Probation Procedures for Academic Staff – Continuing Appointments and Probation Procedures for Academic Staff - Fixed Term Appointments have been reviewed.
A new simplified procedure - Academic Staff Probation and Confirmation Procedures, will streamline the probationary process for continuing and fixed term academic staff and support the University’s new forward looking framework for career development and performance. The main point of difference in the new procedure is that probation reviews will now follow the annual cycle, as detailed in the Academic Staff Career Development Procedure, as much as is practical.
In accordance with Clause 35.1 of the Academic Staff Enterprise Agreement (2012-2016), the revised procedures now referred to as the Academic Staff Probation and Confirmation Procedures and are provided for comment and feedback from staff, supervisors and managers.
Staff should provide feedback directly to Sandy Tacey via email: email@example.com by no later than Friday, 1 September 2017.
Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic)
