Learning@Griffith Help in Canvas

We have a brand-new help website for the new LMS Canvas, with access to further support from 24/7 call and chat lines.

In Trimester 3 2019 Griffith is commencing the process of replacing the legacy Marks Entry Spreadsheet (MESS) process with a new Grade Management System.  For more information about the project and timelines, please refer to the Grade Management project website.

This system will automatically retrieve specified marks from your Learning@Griffith Mark Centre and transfer them into PeopleSoft.

Good to know

  • You need to set up your Learning@Griffith Mark Centre so that there is a column for each assessment item outlined in your Course Profile, and you must enter all student marks here. When you enter the Grade Management System, you will provide information on how your Mark Centre columns relate to Grade Management System columns.  This process is called Assessment Mapping.
  • The  "Points Possible" of an assessment or Mark Centre column in Learning@Griffith must match the "Marked out of" value defined in the Course Profile.
  • It's fine for you to have additional Mark Centre columns used for other purposes - however, these columns will appear as options to select when you are performing the assessment mapping.  Ensuring clear names for all Mark Centre columns will help to limit any confusion.  Grade Management will show the "Mark Centre Name" where one is provided, otherwise it will default to the column name.
  • There is no need to apply weighting to the marks in the Mark Centre.  Grade Management will apply assessment item weightings when calculating the grade.
  • If you have assessment results in an Excel spreadsheet (for example an Exam Scanning spreadsheet), you may need to use the External Marks Toolbar to transfer those marks into the Mark Centre, where they can be drawn into PeopleSoft.
