These pages list the standard software available to us on our computers, and the levels of support offered for it.

We will not necessarily be in a position to provide support or advice to people using equipment that does not meet the basic specification. While the Mac environment are supported please be aware that there are limitations and differences in the way support is available in this environment. The Linux environments is not generally supported in the desktop environment, for any research software using the Linux contact eResearch support.

All changes to, and the levels of support for, software in the catalogue will be subject to the Information Services Change Management process to ensure compatibility with existing systems and network infrastructure etc.

Software support levels

With level A we will

  • install appropriately licensed software.
  • answer questions about the product at most levels of expertise.
  • provide training services for this software.

With level B we will

  • install appropriately licensed software.
  • answer questions with some level of expertise.
  • provide training services for some software.

With level C we will

  • install appropriately licensed software.
  • help with some queries.
  • these products are not supported with training as such, but are recognised by Information Services.

Note to researchers

Some applications are available on the research servers to academics via eResearch support.
