Queensland Universities event
On Monday 23 March 2015, Professor Martin Betts, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Engagement) represented Griffith University at a public lecture hosted by QUT on behalf of the nine Queensland University's who support the Racism. Community in a Time of Tension
On 21 October 2014, Griffith University Chaplaincy hosted the next in its Greater Understanding Series, with the topic Community in a Time of Tension. A panel consisting of an Imam, a Priest, and a member of the Jewish Board of Deputies fielded questions from students and staff about community tensions in the light of current world events. One of the main topics discussed was the need for all people to be able to exercise self-reflection within their faith and cultural communities, ie how can bad things be allowed to happen amongst and even at the hands of people of good will? And the need for greater understanding remains a constant.
Image above shows the panel members: (L to R) Reverend Geoff Hoyte, Rector of the Anglican Parish of Logan, Mr Ari Heber, Chair of the Qld Jewish Interfaith committee, Jewish Board of Deputies, Imam Yusuf Peer, Head of the Brisbane Islamic Council and Reverend Dr Russell Briese, Coordinator, Chaplaincy, Griffith University.

It Stops with Me campaign, and Queensland Cultural Diversity week. The morning tea was a huge success, with over 50 staff learning about the campaign against Racism, and Griffith's support.
